Skin Deep Diving

SKIN DEEP is an 11m catamaran and was built to Ian Taylor's specification by South Boats on the Isle of Wight during the winter of 2000/2001 and was fitted out ready for charter Easter 2001. She is fully licensed and insured to carry 12 passengers and 2 crew up to 60 miles offshore.

SKIN DEEP is fitted with all the latest electronics including, radar, echo sounder, GPS, DSC radio, computer plotter and AIS system. AIS is a new system available to ships which receives information sent by all merchant ships giving its position, speed, heading, name, call sign etc which SKIN DEEP'S receiver automatically puts this information on to its plotter screen which makes diving near or in busy shipping lanes much safer and easier. SKIN DEEP also has a pc onboard with gas mixing, deco programs on it and a DVD player with a surround sound system for the diver’s entertainment.

SKIN DEEP is a purpose built dive boat with kitting up benches for 12 divers which is locked up at night so you can leave your dive kit in the bench .She has a dry seating area in the wheelhouse for up to 6 people, a changing and bag stowage area down below and a separate on deck flushing head, (toilet). She is fitted with a 23cfm hp air compressor that is doubled filtered for nitrox clean up to 250 bar.

SKIN DEEP also has a generator to power the kettle (lots of hot drinks supplied) and a microwave.
SKIN DEEP has a side door access for easy loading (no climbing over gunwales) and stern door for easy exit .she is fitted with a stern lift for easy and safe retrieval of divers (no more ladders to climb)
SKIN DEEP DIVING was the first dive operator to have a stern lift, the idea being thought up by Andy Smith.

Diving

Scenic dives Weymouth is situated in the centre of Dorset's Jurassic coastline with an abundance of reef and ledge dives such as Pulpit rock, Durdle door, Stennis ledges and Lulworth banks which are all homes to an amazing verity of marine life.

Wreck dives. The English Channel has always been one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world and with the help of two world wars has made the channel one of the most wreck-infested stretches of water in the world. Skin deep over the last 30 years have visited over 160 wrecks with in its day range, some of the more famous wrecks on her patch SS SALSETTE, SS KYARRA, HMS M2, HMS FORMIDABLE, HMS AFFARY, AVALANCHE and the AEOLIAN SKY.

SKINDEEP has wrecks in its marks book to suit everyone from 18 th century sailing ships to submarines, warships and merchant ships.

OFFSHORE WRECKS. If you are looking for deeper more technical dives SKIN DEEP DIVING is the place to be, over the last 30 years skin deep has dived more virgin ship wrecks than any other dive operator in the country, with the late Andy Smith and lan Taylor landing 39 ships bells on their decks. A few of the well known offshore shipwrecks that SKINDEEP visits have been; ILLINOIS, MECKNESS, MEDINA, SMYRNA, WAITARA, WARRIOR11, HMS CHARYBDIS, HMS LIMBOURNE and the FLYING ENTERPRIZE.
